SIR: A question for Ms Ruth Kelly. Will you inform the electorate whether you are going to take maternity or parental leave, as it seems to be known as now, after you give birth later in the year and if so, for how long do you intend to take away from your parliamentary and representative duties concerning the electorate?
One may think my question is in poor taste, but, the duties of an MP are completely different from all other employment. As people who pay taxes deserve year-round representation. So, Miss Kelly, please reply as soon as possible, to make your plans clear to the people you claim to represent.
I Cooper
