BUDDING actors Jenny Horridge and Mike Morris tied the medieval knot on Saturday. The couple, who met 11 years ago at Lowton Operatic Society, were married at Astley St Stephen's Church in a Camelot-themed wedding. Jenny, 26, of Acresfield, Tyldesley, and printer Mike, 28, of Clifton Hill Meadows, Lowton, have developed an interest in the era since Mike played the lead in the musical.
They decided that as people dress up for a wedding anyway they might as well go the whole hog.
Jenny and her five bridesmaids were robed Maid Marion style, while Mike and his twelve attendants were clad in tabards and chain mail as knights of the Round Table.
Both mums and dads - Barbara and Bob Horridge and Mary and John Morris - joined the fun, the dads lording it over the ceremony, with mums in Guinevere-like gowns.
Even the reception for 80 guests at Lancashire Manor, East Pimbo, Skelmersdale, was chosen because the building has a great hall.
Jenny, a former Hesketh Fletcher High pupil, now employed in direct works at Wigan Town Hall, said: "Amateur dramatics is in the blood. Mum and dad married after meeting at Urmston ADS.
"Since Mike had played King Arthur a few years ago, I was a bloke in the chorus at the time, we decided to do something a bit different, and thought a medieval tone would be romantic.
"We have developed a great interest in the period since we went on holiday to Cornwall and ended up in Tintagel following the footsteps of the knights of Camelot."
Jenny arrived at church, where minstrels played, by horse and carriage.
After the reception the couple left for a week in California, then on to the isle of Kuai, the island on which Steven Spielberg filmed Jurassic Park.
When they return they can look forward to achieving their dream to act opposite each other as Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickock in September!
