WHEN headlines about local companies tend to spell redundancy and gloom, the latest news from Watson Steel is exhilarating.
The Lostock-based firm has scooped a multi-million pound contract to roof a prestigious new Parliamentary building close to the House of Commons.
Watson's have already provided steel for the massive Millennium Dome roof in an £11 million contract, and for the Reebok Stadium, among other high profile work.
This is not only excellent news for the 650 people employed locally by the firm, part of construction giants AMEC, but also for the town.
Success in projects of this magnitude underlines the fact that Bolton is still a major player in the engineering world. And, as Watson's have proved, one project swiftly follows another when the good word spreads.
