SIR: Anyone would think that Lancashire folk are simple and weak in the head. Nearly half a million pounds for the erection of ten stone 'dominoes' to form a dogs' toilet and graffiti artists' paradise at the former Outwood Colliery site.
Could we not find or have excavated ten pieces of Lancashire sandstone or millstone grit, which would be a more natural feature for this location, at a fraction of the cost?
If this is the best value we can get for our contribution, it should be returned in prize money. Please take another picture of this expensive monstrosity in 12 months time.
