A 'QUACKING' good race seems certain to get the go-ahead on Sunday, in aid of local charities, when 6,000 ducks take to the water.
The Rotary Club of Turton holds its annual duck race at Bradshaw Brook, adjacent to the Cricket Club, starting 11am.
Proceeds go to Bolton Hospice, Royal Bolton Hospital's children's ward, St Anne's Hospice and Derian House.
In addition, more than a further 60 other local groups will also benefit.
Those who have sold duck race tickets get to keep half the proceeds collected.
Top prize is a £1,000 holiday, with others including a colour television and microwave.
Tickets for last minute entries are £1 and can be purchased on the day.
Last year more than £12,000 was raised.
A free children's race will also take place.
Each youngster will be given a numbered ticket, corresponding to a duck and there will be prizes for the first three over the line.
SPONSORS for the event are Conquest Joinery, Astley Bridge Travel, Last Drop Village, EBM, Asda, Warburtons and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
