ISRAEL was today warned by Bolton MP Brian Iddon that it was doing to the Palestinians what the Germans had done to the Jews in the last war.

He was speaking after a three-day visit to the Palestinian territories under Israeli rule.

Dr Iddon, Labour MP for Bolton South East, said: "The situation in the occupied territories is very dangerous.

"The Jews are perpetrating on Palestinians what was perpetrated on them by the Germans before and during the Second World War. it's very sad to see."

After visiting the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem and the West Bank and meeting Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, Dr Iddon criticised the Israelis.

He said they appeared to be trying to depopulate Jerusalem of Arabs but allowing more Jewish housebuilding in the city and nearby.

He and other members of the Labour delegation said it was an "international outrage" that the Israeli government was contemplating a second illegal settlement in east Jerusalem which broke down the peace process.
