PRODUCTION at Greenhalgh's Craft Bakery is expected to be back to normal today following a fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Bosses at the bakery praised firefighters for their quick response in dealing with the blaze at their Lostock factory.
The firm has also praised staff for their diligence during the fire and for their hard work in bringing production back to normal following the incident.
Although the fire was confined to a small area it caused considerable disruption to the night's bread production.
But the firm said the difficulties were minimised by the combined efforts of the fire brigade, and their own staff with output from other parts of the bakery being unaffected.
It was planned that the entire production of bread will be back to normal by today.
Director, Marian Mullin said: "We would like to apologise to local residents for the increased noise levels in the early hours of Wednesday morning and also to our many customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption of supplies."
