work has begun on improvements to Little Hulton District Shopping Centre.
City of Salford Highway Services are carrying out the £80,000 job, which will be the start of a series of schemes to take place on the shopping centre after Christmas.
The car park facing Hanburys supermarket will be extended and footpaths in the area will be improved.
The three-month work will also see the upgrading of lighting to both car parks on the precinct.
Hours of work are 8am until 5pm Monday to Friday, and some Saturday mornings.
Salford City Council planning and development services committee chairman Cllr Ben Wallsworth said: "These long-awaited improvements to the district centre will be of great benefit to all its users."
Works will cause minimum disruption on the district shopping centre and both car parks will remain open throughout."
