TO those of us lucky enough to be invited to pubs and clubs around the town the phrase "major refurbishment" is treated with healthy scepticism.
A "massive re-fit" can often end up looking like nothing more than a new carpet and a lick of paint.
But the re-styled Yates's Wine Lodge which reopened this week seems to be an exception to that rule.
The popular circuit pub on Bradshawgate has effectively doubled in size with a larger ground floor and completely new first floor with its own bar area.
The real test will come this weekend with the Friday and Saturday night rush. But it certainly now looks well equipped to pack the crowds in.
As well as lining up a busy schedule of live entertainment with tribute bands and a series of deals on food for the day-time trade, Yates's has set up a new 'Pub to Club' deal offering reduce price admission to club ikon.
