WILLIAM Hague accuses the Government of having a "black hole" in its finances. The real hole Hague should be looking at is the one in his economic policies. The Tories no longer have any policies based on principle but simply seems to be an opportunistic opposition. While Francis Maude calls the extra money allocated for health and education "reckless", Ann Widdecombe and John Maples are calling for more money for health and defence.

Hague has attacked the minimum wage and the New Deal but fails to tell us what action he would take, and whether he would abolish the minimum wage.

In truth when it comes to the Tories, a black hole simply swallows all their facts. Rather than the myth of a golden economic legacy when Labour took office they had to deal with rising inflation due to Tory failure, weak public finances, £400B national debt and a borrowing requirement on £23B in their last year of office.

The Government has had to deal with Tory failure and has still found an extra £40B for health and education. The only lesson to be learned from the Tories is one of failure.
