PER Frandsen gets what should have been the all-imnportant first goal after an indifferent start against Oxford but the lead lasts only two minutes, leaving a rain-soaked and windswept Reebok crowd having to settle for a 1-1 draw. The international brigade look leg-weary after their European excursions.
MONDAY
CHANGES are on the cards as Colin Todd re-affirms his faith in his squad system. Therer is strong speculation that Keith Branagan is on standby for his first appearance of the season.
TUESDAY
Wanderers' 15-match unbeaten start to the season comes to a shuddering halt as Watford pull off a smash and grab raid at the Reebok. It's looking good when Arnar Gunnlaugsson scores in the 25th minute but Gifton Noel-Williams equalises just before half-time then, after surviving a second half bombardment, Graham Taylor's Hornets come off the ropes with Peter Kennedy snatching the winner three minutes from time.
GUNNLAUGSSON calls for calm as the league table shows Wanderers have slipped to seventh after taking just two points from a possible nine. "This is not the time for crisis meetings," the 10-goal top scorer insists. Colin Todd says the division is wide open and "it's not all about Bolton and Sunderland." The Reebok named 'Building of the Year.'
HUDDERSFIELD boss Peter Jackson, having said a month earlier that the chase for the Premiership was a two-horse race between Wanderers and Sunderland, changes his tune, saying confidently and proudly: "We are proving everyone wrong."
ANOTHER defeat as Wanderers are beaten 2-1 at Bristol City. Arnar Gunnlaugsson shot them into an early lead but injuries to Ricardo Gardner and Per Frandsen inside the first quarter upset the balance of the side. Two penalty incidents - one given to City, one turned down for Wanderers - then proved crucial.
