THE heavens shone down on a Turton church earlier this year -- when a grant was awarded to floodlight the magnificent building and grounds.
St Anne's Church, Chapeltown, decided to apply for a Government grant for floodlights to mark the coming of the Millennium.
The vicar, the Rev John Daulman, has decided to make an occasion of the big switch on on November 29 and they will get TV stardom with a Songs of Praise Service at 6pm. The lights will be switched on at 7pm.
Local MP Janet Anderson will perform the switch on with a brass band playing in the background.
Mr Daulman said: "I have already invited our local Church of England neighbours to attend as well as nearby Methodist and Catholic congregations.
"The village school, the Mayor of Blackburn, district councillors, the parish council, and the local conservation society will also be there -- not forgetting the electrician who installed the system!"
