BOLTON Wanderers are waiting on injury victims Per Frandsen and Ricardo Gardner ahead of tomorrow night's Worthington Cup third round clash at Norwich. The midfield duo were both taken off early in Friday night's 2-1 defeat at Bristol City which saw Wanderers slip to tenth in the First Division.
Frandsen suffered concussion after taking an elbow in the face and had precautionary X-rays in hospital which revealed no fracture of the cheekbone while Gardner has a hamstring injury.
Wanderers will be keen to get both men back in action as soon as possible. They represent half the midfield and having them on the sidelines only unsettles the side and hits their bid for continuity and consistency.
Reebok boss Colin Todd will not rush them back, however, as the Worthington Cup takes second priority behind the all-important promotion bid and he also has a star-studded pack to pick from. He will also have one eye on next Sunday's mouth-watering First Division clash at home to First Division leaders Sunderland and Todd will not want Frandsen or Gardner to suffer a setback tomorrow which will keep them out of that big game.
While the Worthington Cup takes second place to the league, Todd has always stressed he wants his side to go as far as possible in every competition and will send out his strongest possible side at Carrow Road for a game which is likely to be a severe test of his team which wants to get back to winning ways after losing their last two games and taking just one point out of the last nine.
Norwich, on the other hand, will go into the game with their confidence sky-high after knocking Huddersfield Town off the First Division's top spot with a thumping 4-1 victory on Saturday.
