HOUGH Lane should be made one-way from Eagley Bottoms to Darwen Road. There is no advantage in restricting Eagley Way. This will greatly assist in reducing right turning traffic at Dunscar Memorial..

If Hough Lane is closed completely as a through road, there will be dangerous chaos at the Dunscar Memorial; already an awkward and busy junction. Speed bumps on Hough Lane would keep speed of the one-way traffic down to acceptable levels. Not all the residents of Hough Lane wish to see it closed, and practically no attention seems to have been paid to the views of the hundreds of motorists who use the road each day.

If you use this road frequently and object to joining a dangerous queue at Dunscar, to say nothing of the additional one mile on each journey, then write to the council and the Public Enquiry Inspector NOW. (To the Inspector, Hough Lane Public Enquiry, Legal Services Dept, Town Hall, Bolton BL1). Six-monthly trial road schemes have a nasty habit of becoming permanent and, in any case, why should the already difficult road conditions in Bromley Cross be made worse, just to keep a developer happy?
