A BRIDEGROOM-to-be, missing from home for two days after being made redundant, has been found dead. Philip Neild, aged 33, of Campbell Court, Farnworth, disappeared last Wednesday, hours after being told that he had lost his job as a firm's driver. Police were informed of his disappearance by his anxious fiancee, Eileen Taylor of Edinburgh Road, Little Lever. But a search of the area failed to find him.
The couple were engaged only a few weeks ago and were planning to marry soon.
Two teenagers found Mr Neild's body hanging from a tree over a 20ft drop at the weekend. He was in an area of thick undergrowth off a remote path near Mount Sion Road, Little Lever.
Police believe Mr Neild's body had been there since his disappearance but had not been discovered because of the poor weather conditions late last week.
The boys ran to a nearby farm to raise the alarm.
A doctor accompanied police officers to the scene but Mr Neild was already dead. His body was taken to the mortuary at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
Today, his devastated girlfriend Eileen Taylor confirmed that she and Philip were due to be married soon. But she was too distressed to say more.
A police spokesman said there are no suspicious circumstances. The Coroner has been informed.
