A SINGLE mum from Little Hulton who is being treated for breast cancer has blasted the heartless thief who stole cash generously donated to her by Macmillan Nurses. Julie Coulborn, aged 35, was given £400 by the charity to help with travel costs to Christie Hospital where she has chemotherapy treatment every three weeks.

But minutes after she had cashed the cheque, her handbag containing the money, her house keys and hospital appointment cards inside, was stolen from her shopping trolley in Iceland, Farnworth.

Julie, who has a 10-year-old son Sean , said: "The thief can't have a conscience because he must have seen all the chemotherapy leaflets and hospital appointment cards in my bag.

"If it had just been money I had saved myself it would not have been so bad but that money was for a specific purpose." The cash was a gift out of the blue for Julie who had a lump removed from her breast in September after being diagnosed with cancer in August.

She said: "They have breast cancer care nurses at Hope Hospital where I had my operation and I think they're behind the gift.

"I got a letter through the post which had a list of things the money was to be used for with the cheque at the bottom. The money was to pay for house contents insurance, fuel costs, and travel expenses to Christie .

"It's so ironic. Of all the days when I had so much money with me my bag was taken.

"It's really shaken me up. The money was meant to make my life more comfortable. But despite paying £70 to have my locks changed I'm still not sleeping because I'm frightened every time I hear a noise outside at night."
