LEIGH RMI's big day out at Fulham in the first round of the FA Cup has been put back 24 hours to a week on Sunday after original plans to bring the tie forward to Friday infuriated the UniBond Premier Division Club. RMI were originally informed that the police could not cope with two games on the same day - Chelsea have a Premiership fixture against Wimbledon at Stamford Bridge on Saturday - so the Fulham tie would have had to be played on the Friday night.
A switch to Sunday is good news for Leigh, who were worried that as well as having to compensate their part-time players for the loss of two days' wages, their expect travelling support would be drastically reduced if the game were played on a Friday night. "It's a victory for commonsense," said RMI chairman Chris Healey. "We're delighted with the outcome."
The tie now goes ahead at 3pm at Craven Cottage on November 15.
The RMI club is selling all-inclusive match-day packages. Coach travel and a match ticket for an adult costs £20, £15 concessions. Seats can be booked by ringing Hilton Park on 01942-743743.
