FORMER Canon Slade pupil Janet Corkindale has achieved a degree of success across the other side of the world.
The former nurse found Australia the perfect tonic she needed to achieve her ambition of becoming a doctor.
Janet, whose family lives in Worsley, undertook years of nursing in England, Canada and Australia before deciding to progress in the medical profession to become a doctor.
She was accepted into Sydney University's medical school on the six year course and has just passed her finals.
Proud parents Elsie and Alan now intend to visit their daughter during her 12-month internship in an Australian hospital.
