A TEENAGER who helped save two youngsters from a fireball horror has been honoured by his school. Marcus Carter, 15, dashed to the rescue when a petrol can exploded on Ladybird Hill, Breightmet, setting fire to the tracksuit bottoms of 11-year-olds Damien Obertelli and Mark Longworth.
As reported in the BEN last month, the youngster carried stricken Damien to his home in Winchester Way, Breightmet, and then returned to comfort Mark until emergency services arrived.
On Tuesday, Withins School honoured Marcus for his heroism by presenting him with a special "Pupil of the Year for Services to Others" certificate at an awards night.
Deputy head Anne Colley said: "He had no thought for himself or his own safety in an effort to help others.
"Marcus is normally quite a shy lad so it was nice to give him some real credit for his bravery."
