A TEAM from Bolton Diabetes Centre has been shortlisted for a top award in this year's prestigious Hospital Doctor Awards.
If they win, they will become the NovoNordisk Diabetes Award Team and receive £5,000.
The Bolton team is just one of four from the North-west which stand to gain recognition in this year's awards.
Mr Rory McCloy and the Pancreato Billiary Service Team at Manchester Royal Infirmary; Dr Christopher Spanswick and his team at Hope Hospital, Salford; and Dr Chris Loughran and the radiology department of the Macclesfield District General Hospital, are the others.
They are all just one week away from discovering whether they are winners of one of the top medical accolades in the UK.
The awards, organised by the Hospital Doctor newspaper, are now in their eighth year and celebrate the achievements of hospital medicine.
Specialists and their teams compete across 12 categories and are judged on their innovation, leadership, teamwork and their effective use of resources.
The winners of each category will be announced at a glittering ceremony to be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Tuesday.
The Hospital Doctor of the Year, chosen from the category winners, will be announced on the night.
