I AM writing in regard to the letter in the Bolton Evening News on October 23 about the closure of the Territorial Army.
I'm a cadet based at the Queens Lancashire Regiment at Derby Barracks, Fletcher Street, in Bolton.
I really enjoy going to the cadets on Tuesday and Thursday nights and if they close down the TA in the area there will be no... Army Cadets, Navy (Sea) Cadets, Marine Cadets, Bolton QLR TA, War Veterans Club and a Band.
There are also a few other things that I may not have listed. But we will lose all of this if they close down the TA, and, if they do, there is nowhere else to go, except the Boy Scouts and not everybody wants to join them.
In the days of the Second World War, the TA was the home defence, and if there ever is another war involving England, we will have no home defence.
