OVER the past few weeks you have published letters condemning the closure of Hough Lane, particularly BEN November 2, from Eric JB Doyle.
I can assure you that a recent survey of Hough Lane residents shows a massive majority in favour of closure.
I have lived in Bromley Cross all my life and in Hough Lane for over 12 years and traffic was nothing like it is today when I moved in.
If Hough Lane is closed it will stop a lot more dangerous chaos than it will cause.
Dunscar War Memorial junction will not be expected to take extra traffic without modification.
Hough Lane is a minor road and was not constructed to take the massive volume and weight of traffic that it is doing.
Sat in your house listening to windows shaking, mirrors being continuously knocked off, and the screech of brakes as cars mount the pavement to get past. Some of them not bothering if you are stood on the pavement.
So come on, think about other people's safety and not just about your journey being extended by just a few minutes.
I live on Hough Lane and will have no objection to travelling via the War Memorial, which will have a controlled junction instead of a dangerous one or two way 'rat-run'.
Perhaps it would be nice if the hundreds of motorists who use the road each day would pay some attention to the views of hundreds of Hough Lane residents.
This is not to keep the developers happy, it is the residents who pressed for closure. Please remember we live in Bromley Cross/Eagley too.
Mrs P L Carroll,
Hough Lane, Bromley Cross, Bolton.
