A NEW nightclub named after the mythical underwater city of Atlantis has been hit by serious flooding for the second time in two weeks.
The Atlantis Club, due to open at the Valley Centertainment development off Blackburn Road next month, was damaged by a deluge of water yesterday.
A pipe connected to a 2,000 gallon water tank sheered off, causing water to cascade down through offices and toilets in the club complex.
Flood water up to six inches deep spread through the rooms, causing an estimated £20,000 of damage to computers and other electrical equipment.
The deluge followed an incident two weeks ago when water from a shower unit accidentally left running caused minor flood damage.
Atlantis manager Craig Smith said: "I was sitting at my desk when water came pouring down on top of me. I suppose it is ironic that the club is called after Atlantis the underwater city and then we find ourselves under water."
As the cleaning up operation continued today Mr Smith assured clubbers that work is still on target for the VIP opening night on January 21, despite the flood damage.
