LONGWORTH Manor, the 300-years-old house at Longsight Park, Turton, will be preserved. Bolton District Parks and Recreation Committee last night agreed to join Turton Council in a joint project to make part of the 12-room house habitable. A tenant will then be installed to discourage further vandalism. The committee also backed Farnworth's plan for a ski-slope in the Croal Valley. A report on cost and profitability is to be prepared.

ABOUT eleven o'clock on Sunday night, a cabman named Philip Rigby, No 17 cab, Bolton, was taking a party of four men in his cab to 'Twists', or the Hare and Hounds, Breightmet, and when nearing Tong-with-Haulgh his cab passed over something, and immediately afterwards he heard a scream. He at once stopped his horse, got off his box, and found a man lying in the road. He got the man up, and ascertained his name to be Aaron Fowler, Heaton Brow, Middle Hulton. He appeared to be seriously bruised with being run over, and the cabman considerately took him to his home.
