I AM writing to add my own concerns to those of the residents of Westhoughton regarding new housing developments, not just in Westhoughton but all over the Bolton area.

The Deane area has become swamped with new housing developments over the years. The area was predominantly farm land some 30 years ago, however we have had Sutton Estate, Ladybridge, Ferncrest and Beaumont Hotel, Beaumont Chase, Beaumont Rise and Sunninghill Rise. This has reduced the 'green area' to just one field this side of Beaumont Road, and now there is a planning application for a further 87 houses on that site.

There is no need for further housing in this area. There are many houses for sale on all the new estates, and also low cost starter homes in many on the surrounding terraces. The roads cannot cope as it is, and what about schools, doctors, dentist etc, will this be an excuse for further development later? Perhaps we should put a supermarket on Rumworth Lodge!

"green" areas must be protected even if they are not Green Belt Land, and I am very concerned that this last area should be sold for any development, housing or otherwise.

I urge everyone to write to their MPs and get this constant development stopped before it is too late.
