RUGBY LEAGUE: Fan set for boardroom LEIGH Centurions fans will be ready to elect their own representative to the Hilton Park board in January. The Leigh Independent Supporters Association (LISA) has now got the go-ahead to form an executive committee and chose one of their number to take a place in the Centurions' boardroom.

LISA will now start a recruitment drive that could raise substantial sums to help new coach Ian Millward in his team strengthening plans.

Members will pledge £5 per month or £60 per year with all monies accrued being generally used for the purchase of new players. In just a week LISA has pledges from businesses and individuals topping £9,000.

In January an AGM will be held, officers elected and member chosen to take up the Centurions' offer of a place on the board.

Neil Wilcock, one of the organisers, says: "It is quite clear from the money that's been pledge so far that a great many people have a love for this club. The £9,000 pledged so far shows the great potential of the scheme. "We know that success isn't going to happen overnight but a lot of people in the town have the ambition to see this club make progress. This Association will be the vehicle to drive that ambition.

"If we want a future at this club we must act now, not later. What we have achieved so far is just the tip of the iceberg."
