FOR once the popular bird sanctuary pegs of Doffcocker Reservoir did not produce in the fourth round of the Winter League Series. The matches are proving very popular, and 33 anglers were in attendance last week, but heavy frost put paid to big catches.
Rob Walsh had two bream and two skimmers on the quivertip with single red maggot, and this was good enough to give the Anglers Corner man top spot with a weight of 3lb 12oz.
Bolton Angling Centre member Mark Holt thought he was on to a good thing when he had a bream on his first cast. However, that was to be it until his very last cast of the match produced another. Mark's brace tipped the scales at 3lb 12oz and gave him second place.
Another Bolton Anglers Centre man Dave Barnes made third with a couple of bream for 3lb 4oz. Fourth was D Hanley (Royal Ashton) with 2lb 3oz, D Cooper (Bolton Angling Centre) was fifth with 1lb 13oz, and Paul Swift (Bolton Angling Centre) was sixth with 0lb 12oz.
