IN YOUR editorial comment on the new Lesbian Health Initiative (December 18), you write "In a financially perfect society, the perceived needs of every possible sexual orientation would be accommodated."

The very obvious need of gay men is to be freed from the oppression of discriminatory legislation, but this demand, which carries no financial implications whatsoever, has not yet been blessed with your editorial endorsement.

Is this all part of the "Homophobic Bolton" which has manifested itself so dramatically in 1998, or can we hope that you will climb aboard - or, at least, come alongside - eventually, maybe this year? Next year? Sometime....... ?
