Looking forward The festivities are over, dustbins are all full,
Winter is still vibrant, yet the town is in a lull.
Hangovers are a plenty; Goodwill, what is that?
Credit now reality, the bank requires a chat.
It's now time to return to work and school,
Wearing brand new clobber, looking so cool.
Resolutions already broken, no surprises there.
Is anyone feeling guilty, does anyone even care?
Summer holidays are next, where on earth to go?
How about Turkey? On second thoughts, NO!
Must also begin planning for New Year '99.
Hotels full already, should've seen the signs.
No matter what this coming year has in store,
There will be surprises, and much, much more.
Such a significant year in the planet's history.
Let's hope it's a peaceful one for all to see. By D P Crompton
