In the autumn of our lifetime when the spring of youth has past
We look back at the years now spent and our minds we try to cast
Back to the time when we were young when our future lay ahead
The pages of the book of life just waiting to be read
We remember, such as our first love so wondrous at the start
That ended in what seemed to be, our first broken heart
How quickly though a young heart heals when there's so much life to live.
The magic when we realise we have much more love to give.
As the pages turn the years roll by in happy reverie.
Again we know the happiness of days that used to be.
But sadly autumn just like spring becomes a memory
We lay aside our book of life, the times that could not last
And realise the treasures stored, in our now so distant past
We smile as we wipe away the tears, that memories can bring..
Oh could we but return once more, to the youthfulness of spring. By Ken Buckley
