POLICE chiefs in Lancashire have this week warned drink drivers - you can run but you can't hide!
Officers launched a new countywide drink drive campaign together with Crimestoppers at Chorley police station on Monday.
Drink Link has already proved worthwhile since its launch in Chorley seven months ago - and so impressed were Crimestoppers with its success - they have taken it on board.
Now, anyone who knows of a suspected drink or drug driver can ring 0800 555 111 in confidence to report them.
PC Andy Edwards from Crimestoppers, said: "We already receive a small number of calls regarding drink drivers, disqualified drivers and the like on Crimestoppers.
"Taking on board Drink Link seemed like a natural progression which should pay great dividends particularly in the run up to Christmas when drinking and driving traditionally has a higher profile."
Drink Link was launched in April as a spin-off from the force's Operation Bullseye - which has been running for the past 18 months in the Southern Division and aims to improve all areas of road safety.
Sergeant Steve Moon, from the division's operations department, said: "We've taken about 80 calls and made 29 arrests of drink and drug drivers since the launch.
"There's also been excellent co-operation from the local media and the courts which have handed out stiff sentences to those who have been convicted."
