MR AND Mrs Brian Mather have made a sensible and reasoned argument about the use of the word "bloody" in advertising at the Virgin Megastore in Bolton's Market Place and we fully support their objection.
The couple argue that parents are constantly fighting a losing battle and more and more of the "unacceptable" is filtering into our everyday lives. Too true.
We agree with the Mathers that the use of the word is unnecessary and highly irresponsible.
Virgin Megastores counter that the word is commonplace in everyday language. So are other swear words in some circles. That doesn't mean we want our children to use them.
No, on this occasion Virgin Megastores have got it wrong and should drop the offending word from their advertising.
