I AM writing hoping that the people who have dumped their rubbish along Raikes Lane will read this letter and take heed about dumping there again. At Christmas time people have more rubbish and the incinerator is only at the top of the lane.
For one thing it spoils the countryside and it is also a health hazard. I would like to know how they would like it if they had it dumped on their own doorsteps?
Some of the rubbish is what you can put in the bin and, goodness knows, the wheelie bins are big enough these days to take a lot of rubbish.
Are we becoming a nation of rubbish dumpers? You see people these days opening bars of chocolate, sweets, bags of crisps, cans and cigarette stubs and just throwing them on the floor. Would they do that in their own homes? I do not think so. So come on you British people, as a nation, clean up your act and buck up as far as cleanliness is concerned.
Mrs K M Holmes,
Clayton Street, Haulgh.
