Wanderers and Norwich have decided to settle for a free weekend rather than set up two meetings in the space of a week.
Their respective third round FA Cup exits offered the prospect of re-arranging their outstanding Carrow Road fixture for January 23 - the date of the fourth round.
But neither manager approved of the idea since the teams are already due to meet at the Reebok seven days later.
Norwich had considered approaching Wanderers to slot the fixture into the vacant Saturday but manager Bruce Rioch is understood to have been against playing his former club twice in eight days. Colin Todd said he wouldn't have been in favour either.
The clubs will now wait until later in the season to find a slot for the Carrow Road fixture.
Wanderers expect to complete the formalities of Paul Warhurst's £800,000 transfer from Crystal Palace tomorrow after the player has had his medical.
Todd, meanwhile, has striker Bob Taylor sidelined with flu symptoms.
