BOLTON'S police chief today urged the public to get involved in the fight against Crime.
Speaking at the launch of the Bolton Crime and Disorder Audit, Chief Supt Mel Pelham appealed to everyone who cares about the town to have their say.
He said: "We want to consult as widely as possible on this so we get the truest possible picture and create the most appropriate and effective strategy for Bolton."
He added: "Have we got the right impression about crime and the areas where it happens? Is there anything important not covered in the audit that we have missed?"
Bolton Partnership Group member, Cllr Prentice Howarth, made a direct appeal to young people to make their views known. She said: "The young people are the town's future and we want them to get involved."
Ten thousand leaflets summarising the audit are being distributed to libraries, schools, colleges and other centres.
Comments must be made by the end of January. The new strategy on crime will be implemented in April.
