Wanderers are running the rule over one of Denmark's top strikers.

Bo Hansen, 12-goal top scorer with Champions Brondby, is on trial at the Reebok while his team-mates compete in a tournament on the sunshine island of Gran Canaria.

The 26-year-old striker, who played in the European Champions League this season, has been on Wanderers wanted list for some time.

He scored in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackburn at the Euxton training headquarters on Tuesday and has impressed in his short stay.

"I've seen him a few times and tried to get him over before but his club wouldn't agree," Wanderers boss Colin Todd confirmed. "He's a good striker with a good pedigree."

Hansen, who is in his sixth season with Brondby, is a full international and returns to Copenhagen this weekend when he is due to team up with the Danish League squad for a tournament in South America involving games against Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela.

Meanwhile, Todd has voiced his frustrations after Division One rivals Bristol City refused to co-operate over a fixture switch.

Anticipating the March 27 Reebok game being postponed because of international commitments, the Wanderers boss tried to bring it forward to January 23, when both clubs have a free weekend.

Ashton Gate officials initially agreed but manager Benny Lennartson vetoed the switch, explaining he had injuries.

Wanderers tried to get the Football League to force the issue but they refused because the game cannot be postponed on the assumption that players will be named in international squads.

Per Frandsen, Claus Jensen, Arnar Gunnlaugsson and Jussi Jaaskelainen are all likely to be on European Championship duty on March 27.

"We both have a free date and we both know the fixture will probably have to be postponed," Todd said. "Bristol should be made to play it.

"Instead we're in the situation of having two free Saturdays between now and the end of the season. It's so unnecessary."

Wanderers's exit from the FA Cup left them without a game on the 23rd. It had been mooted that Norwich might ask Wanderers to arrange their outstanding Carrow Road fixture for that date but with the teams due to meet at the Reebok the following Saturday, both managers were against the idea.

"That was always a non-starter," Todd said.
