ALFIE Burden ended Tony Knowles' hopes of qualifying for snooker's £370,000 Regal Scottish with a 5-1 win at Blackpool yesterday. Burden, from Harrow, made breaks of 43, 35, 32 and 105 to lead Knowles 3-1 at the interval of their third qualifying round match and added runs of 34 and 66 on the resumption to progress.
Former World No 2 Knowles had hit a brace of centuries, 123 and 113, in defeating Johl Younger in the second round but could only score 36 points in the last four frames against Burden.
