I was very annoyed to read in the Bolton Evening News on December 31 that though the council is planning to place speed restricting ramps in the roads all over the place around Bolton and Farnworth, there was no mention of any sort of speed deterrents on Lightbounds Road on the Johnson Fold estate. Residents risk their lives every time they cross Lightbounds Road. There is a speed limit of 10mph, but no one takes any notice of it.

Everyone can understand having the speed restrictions at health centres and schools, but having them near to a park entrance is just as important. There are plenty of children who go to the park for the swings, to play football or even cross country running. The schoolchildren go down to Barrow Bridge and through Moss Bank Park to get to Smithills School and Church Road School and I don't see how they are being protected by these speed restrictions.

When the summer fair is on Moss Bank Park, Lightbounds Road has never been closed and is used as a car park because they have to pay £2 to park up on the park. This means that Lightbounds Road is double parked all the way down to the park from the bus terminus, and there are cars trying to get up and down all the time and they more often than not speed to get through first. When the ice and snow comes, that doesn't deter motorists. There are many cars down the bottom of the road because some of the families have more than one car and only have the road to park on because of the lack of parking space. Drivers have to weave their way in and out of the parked cars.

I urge the Council to come and have a look at the dangerous situation up here.
