FAST food giant McDonalds is the first major-name tenant to take a space at Route 66 - the five-acre mixed leisure and commercial scheme at Pilsworth, Bury. McDonalds has taken a half acre site at the former Bass Brewery distribution facility, which is being redeveloped by Standard Commercial Properties Securities, part of Bass Developments. It is part of a major scheme to regenerate surplus Bass sites with the aim of bringing employment back to the area.
Prominently positioned on a corner site, the restaurant will be located next to the roundabout which leads to the main Pilsworth site.
Chris Newsome, senior real estate surveyor at McDonalds, said: "We had already identified a requirement for a McDonalds restaurant in the Pilsworth area because of the existing leisure complex and the easy access off the M66 motorway.
"The site offered by Bass at Route 66 was ideal and met all the criteria for a drive thru, providing easy access and high visibility from any approach."
