I WOULD like to nominate as "Rat of the Week" the person(s) who, in the early hours of December 20 1998 (approximately 4-4.30am), smashed into the back of my car parked on Bury Road, Bolton rendering my vehicle a total "write-off". As this person did not bother to stop and leave any details I can only presume they were under the influence of drink/drugs, had fallen asleep at the wheel or had something to hide i.e. a stolen vehicle or no document. The point I would like to make is why should I work to have something nice only to be caused inconvenience, higher insurance premiums, loss of excess monies; only to be left with no car because some inconsiderate coward would not face the consequences of his/her actions.
So, if anyone did see the incident when a car/van/wagon collided with the rear end of a Rover 820i, on Bury Road, facing the Black Horse public house, at the time and date stated, could you please contact PC 4116 Duxbury at Astley Bridge police station.
I can only be thankful that it appears that no one was injured, but, if the driver was, then I can only say "Happy New Year to you to!"
Mr S P Fitton
Bury Road, Bolton
