I FEEL I must comment on your article "Search is tough for skilled youngsters" on the business pages (BEN, December 28).
It states that: "Bosses in the North-west are finding it hard to recruit the right young people", one of the reasons being "candidates lacked motivation".
How dare they, any of them, criticise job seekers for having little motivation while they are offering some of the lowest wages in the country, some of the worst working conditions and no prospects.
I suggest all you bosses go home tonight and ask yourself what it is you really want. Do you want motivated staff who are willing to work flexible hours when asked, who will put all of themselves into the job and who will see a job finished no matter what? If the answer is yes then give them a reason to want to work for you instead of needing to work for you. If the answer is no then carry on as you are but stop whinging about it.
The staff are there waiting to be employed and to give you their best. Are you prepared to give them the same back?
