WILL my child go blind? This is the first question to be asked by parents when they are told their child has Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP). Night blindness and tunnel vision are the first signs of RP, which is the main cause of sight loss in those under 65.
The Retinal Awareness Group (RAG) is holding an RP Weekend in Blackpool from Friday, April 23 to Sunday, April 25, 1999. The aim of the Weekend is to help families and those with RP get advice and information.
Dr Susie Downes, consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital, will explain RP and answer your questions. Sessions will be held on living and coping with RP today. Speakers and advisers will be on hand to speak to over the weekend. An exhibition of aids and equipment for the home and employment will also be available.
The British RP Society is raising money to find a cure, and its Welfare Department is helping sufferers.
