COLIN Todd has accused Arnar Gunnlaugsson of "pure greed" after receiving a written transfer request from the Wanderers top scorer. The Reebok hierarchy has yet to consider the Iceland striker's official request for a move.

But the manager responded strongly to the written request today when he said: "We've offered him a lucrative contract which has been turned down because of pure greed.

"He's advised by his agent that he can get 'X' number of pounds and that seems to be what he's holding out for. But we've made our final offer.

"We're not in the Premiership; we're a First Division club and as such we've made him an excellent offer, which would be improved if we got back into the Premiership." Todd, who recalled Gunnlaugsson to his starting line-up for Sunday's 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace, is clearly disappointed by the development. "It's the first time I've had a transfer request from any of my players," he said. Meanwhile, reports that Wanderers have agreed a £1 million deal for Brondby top scorer Bo Hansen, were described by Todd as "premature".

"I'm still pursuing my interest in him but I haven't spoken to Brondby about a deal," he explained. "He was over to see us last week, not so much for a trial, but because he wanted to have a look at the set-up and he went away impressed."
