Wanderers Res 1 Coventry Res 1 WANDERERS Reserves made a great start in their encounter with Coventry City at the Reebok Stadium last night when trialist Ben Wright fired them ahead after only four minutes.

Unfortunately Italian striker Stefano Gioacchini earned City a point with a 53rd minute equaliser.

Bolton held the initiative early on with Wright collecting Ricardo Gardner's pass before running forward to slot the ball past the oncoming Steve Ogrizovic.

The experienced keeper then went on to make a man of the match performance with a number of class saves to deny Bolton. He made a brave save at the feet of Peter Morrison and then showed his agility with a spectacular save from the winger's right foot volley. City came into the game in the 23rd minute, when John Eustace let fly from 20 yards, his effort striking the post before bouncing clear.

The visitors hit back eight minutes after the re-start when Marc Edworthy's right wing cross found Gioacchini and his header hit the net despite Birkir Kristinsson's attempted save.

Ogrizoric continued to prevent the Wanderers attempts at finding a winning goal. He made a great save from Danny Brown after the midfielder had got clear but his best came with five minutes remaining when Wright flicked the ball into Eidur Gudjohnsen's path and he got clear of the defence only to see his shot palmed away.

Team: Kristinsson, Degn (Barratt), Phillips, Staton, Aljofree, Strong, Morrison, Brown (Holden), Gudjohnsen, Wright, Gardner.
