COLIN Todd is near to closing the deal that will bring Brondby's top scorer Bo Hansen to the Reebok.
The Wanderers' boss was having talks with the Danish international today, hopeful of clinching the £1 million transfer.
Hansen, who spent last week in Bolton getting a feel of the place, looks set to take Todd's Danish contingent to four, joining his countrymen Per Frandsen, Michael Johansen and Claus Jensen.
If the transfer is concluded, Wanderers will acquire one of Europe's leading goalscorers, although not necessarily in time for Saturday's game at Sheffield United.
Hansen, who has been at Brondby since 1993, is currently the 12-goal top scorer with the Danish Champions and has extensive European experience, most recently in this season's Champions League.
Todd, who has tried once before to persuade Brondby to sell Hansen, has long been an admirer of the 26-year-old striker he describes as "a recognised goalscorer" and "an intelligent player".
Wanderers will not, however, be pursuing their interest in another Dane - the U-21 international right back Peter Degn, who had a trial in the Reserves' 1-1 draw with Coventry at the Reebok last night.
Degn is with the Aarhus club and available on a free transfer under the Bosman Ruling but didn't impress.
He was one of four trialists who figured in the Pontins League game with Kettering's 18-year-old striker, Ben Wright, who scored the Wanderers goal, the pick of the bunch.
Ambitious Brentford boss Ron Noades is reported to be keen on linking Wanderers' wantaway striker Arnar Gunnlaugsson with his fellow Icelander Hermann Hreidarsson at Griffin Park.
The Reebok top scorer, meanwhile, is said to be upset at being branded as "greedy" by his manager, claiming the new contract he has been offered by the club was "not good enough".
