A BOLTON family who tried to improve their neighbourhood by making their garden more attractive are devastated after vandals keep ruining their efforts. Pensioner Mrs Mildred Hobson, who lives on Sandham Walk, Great Lever, is fed-up of replacing expensive stone blocks after vandals kicked them over FOUR times. The family put the four posts in the garden, along with a metal chain, to safeguard their young grandchildren from cyclists and youngsters cutting the corner and going over their garden
But after the latest destruction, they now say they have had enough and have vowed not to replace them again - even though they have let the vandals win.
Mrs Hobson told the BEN: "I've had enough of replacing them. I have done it four times, and every time I do it they kick them over again. People do things to try and improve the look of the place and the yobs that do this just have no regard. They have destroyed my flowers too."
Mrs Hobson, who has lived in their council-owned home for over 13 years added: "My grandchildren play in the back and I am extremely annoyed and upset. The council keep telling us to keep the gardens tidy and we do our best to help it look nice. But I'm calling it a day now because I'm fighting a losing battle."
