My body slept so peacefully today; after going 10 rounds with the Flu!
The virus so battered my body, it had felt quite black & blue.
My aching head, my painful bones,
The rasping cough and stuffed-up nose.
Food turned me quite sick, I just could not eat.
Shivering & sweating from my head to my feet.
Then my throat became sore, with little white spots.
Drinking was painful, be it cold, be it hot.
My mind knew things were not right as it also felt ill,
And kept hoping Immunity would go in for the kill.
But TODAY! - my body slept peacefully, the battle was won.
Immunity the Victor. Flu overcome.
So today I've just rested, lying quiet all the day,
While my mind went a-dreaming, just drifting away.
Wandering here and there for hours without end,
Giving my body a chance to mend.
No hurry, no fuss while time idled by.
But now I feel better, I ask myself WHY?
Why, oh just why did the Flu strike me down
To make me so ill at Christmas Time.
Not just at Christmas, but New Year too,
So now I've no memory of either - thanks to that flu By Kellyann Davies
