PLANNING councillors have given the go ahead for a synthetic sports pitch to be created at Canon Slade School.
It would replace a gravel pitch at the back of the school on Bradshaw Brow and it would be enclosed with three-metre high fencing.
Nineteen letters of objection were sent to the planning department from residents.
They were worried about noise disturbance, an increase in traffic and they feared floodlights could shine into their homes.
But councillors were told that it would not be used after 8pm and the floodlights has now been taken off the application.
