THE Provincial Trust for Bolton was set up in 1953 with £15,000, but, because of wise investments, has since then been able to give away more than £200,000 to local causes.
Now it is looking for applications so it can provide even more thousands!
"We give to a wide selection of causes," says trust chairman David Porter. "We carefully consider all applications, but we cannot help everyone. Some are rejected, but basically we are looking for groups or people who would have difficulty with, or not be able to complete some activity or project without the cash. I must stress, however, that the money is given to projects, and not as personal gifts to people short of money." Under its rules, the trust can give only to applications from the Bolton Metropolitan Borough.
"Anyone who lives in Bolton and feels that he or she, or their organisation, may have a case, should send for an application form," says Mr Porter.
The forms are available from: Mr David Porter, Chairman, Provincial Trust for Bolton, Fieldings Porter, Silverwell House, Silverwell Street, Bolton, BL1 1PT.
