LOCAL MPs have congratulated Bolton Mountain Rescue Team on "30 years of selfless humanitarian service to the community".
They have put down a Commons motion which "recognises with gratitude the valuable work that this body of volunteers routinely undertakes".
The motion, on the Commons order paper, notes that "in 1998 no fewer than 63 call-outs were responded to and that already in 1999 the team had dealt with several emergencies, including giving assistance in support of the ambulance service".
The motion was put down by Worsley MP Terry Lewis and supported by Bolton MPs Brian Iddon, David Crausby and Ruth Kelly, and Leigh MP Lawrence Cunliffe. They hope "the organisation continues to prosper and wish everyone concerned with it a successful future".
